Mission
The UZH Population Research Center (UZH PRC) is dedicated to advancing research excellence in the field of population studies. Our goal is to serve as a leading hub for cutting-edge population research in Switzerland and beyond.
The UZH PRC is a community of dedicated researchers committed to advancing knowledge and improving population well-being across different disciplines, including, for example, Psychology, Medicine and Social Sciences. We work collaboratively across disciplinary boundaries.
Our operational framework is built on state-of-the-art infrastructure and services that facilitate innovative and interdisciplinary studies, enhance recruitment efficiency and optimize data management processes.
Our main objectives are to:
-
Conduct high-quality and interdisciplinary research on population dynamics with representative and inclusive samples.
-
Foster collaboration among researchers at the University of Zurich and the University Hospitals of Zurich and promote research networks that span multiple disciplines.
-
Collaborate with national and international research institutions, policymakers, and stakeholders to advance knowledge and inform policy on population-related issues.
-
Develop innovative methodologies and efficient tools for population-level research, including data collection, study nesting, and long-term data archiving.
-
Train and mentor the next generation of population researchers and provide guidance and support for issues specific to population-based research.
-
Engage with the public and effectively communicate our research findings to relevant stakeholders and decision makers.
