Call for Abstracts

The University of Zürich’s Population Research Center (UZH PRC) invites submissions for the 2nd Zurich Population Research Conference, which will take place on February 1–2, 2027.

We welcome contributions on migration and mobility, health inequalities and mental health, climate and environmental change, and life course and longitudinal research, as well as on methodological and cross-cutting topics such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, digital data collection, recruitment and retention of hard-to-reach populations, survey fatigue, ethics and data governance, transparency and reproducibility, participatory approaches, and other topics.  

The conference is interdisciplinary and open to empirical, theoretical, methodological, and policy-oriented research. We welcome contributions from fields including demography, sociology, economics, public health, epidemiology, psychology, education, data science, and related disciplines. 

Researchers studying populations in any form are encouraged to submit!

Submission Guidelines

Abstract submission will be possible starting May 18, 2026

We welcome submissions for both oral presentations and posters.
Please submit for both formats: 

  • A title 
  • An abstract of up to 300 words 

All submissions will undergo review by the conference committee, focusing on relevance to population research, methodological rigor, originality, and contribution to the conference theme. To ensure broad participation, only one submission as presenting author is allowed. 

Outstanding contributions will be recognized with Best Oral Presentation and Best Poster Prizes.

a) Oral Presentations 
Accepted presenters will give an approximately 12-minute presentation in a thematic panel session, followed by Q&A. Presenters are not required to submit a full paper prior to the conference. 

b) Poster Presentations 
Posters will be presented during a dedicated poster session (2-3min flashtalk in plenary) with interactive discussion.
